Executive Leadership Team

David Garrido - CEO

David Garrido

Throughout my career, I have been involved in transforming schools and the life chances of young people, many of whom have faced challenging situations.  My first degree was in Music and Liturgy, and I was organ scholar at St Mary-Le-Tower in Ipswich.  I then went on to Reading University for my PGCE.  The rest as they say, is history.  My teaching career has covered nine schools, two where I was deputy headteacher and two as headteacher.  So, I have extensive leadership experience and a proven track record of raising standards, in a diverse range of schools.

I am convinced that the way forward for schools is in partnership and I am privileged to have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Catholic Education across the Archdiocese. Building upon the diocesan strategy and SELCAT vision.

In developing SELCAT, I am very conscious of protecting the identity of each school that joins our family.  Together with the Headteachers of our schools, I want to create a legacy for the future and a unique identity for SELCAT, which centres on our faith, its traditions, academic excellence and developing a curriculum relevant to the needs of students enabling them to be highly successful, confident individuals.

Paul Drake - Chief Finance & Business Operations Officer

PAD pictureAfter many years in the IT industry I moved across to the education sector and have been fortunate to have worked in a number of high performing schools across all key stages.  I was involved with the Building Schools for the Future programme and helped establish one of the early convertor academies.  More recently I have been part of a large multi academy trust based in the South East.

I have also been involved in school governance for over 15 years across several schools and am currently Chair of Governors at a Greenwich primary school.

My driving force is to ensure that all our schools in our Trust are equipped with the necessary resources to provide an outstanding learning experience for all the children that pass through our doors.

After graduating from university, I completed my PGCE at Goldsmiths. I then returned to Catholic Education in Greenwich in 2009, firstly teaching in Kidbrooke, then moving to St Mary’s in September 2011. During my time at St Mary’s, I have had a variety of roles including Class Teacher, Assistant Head, and now Co-Headteacher.

I am committed to Catholic education, guided by the teachings of Christ. I am passionate about a holistic approach to education, nurturing and developing the talents and interests of our children and developing their spirituality and faith. By building purposeful, effective relationships and working collaboratively, I believe that high quality Catholic education is available to all our children.

I am currently on maternity leave from my role at St Mary’s, so I am enjoying spending time with my lovely new baby, who is keeping me very busy!

Jonathan Sims ? Co HeadteacherAfter graduating from university, I embarked upon a career in the City of London where I worked on the trading floor for two stockbroking companies. After a successful five years I left the City to pursue my passion of education, completing a PGCE at Goldsmith College.

I secured my teaching position at a Catholic primary school in Charlton and after a couple of years was promoted to Assistant Head. In 2017, I moved a few miles down the road to St Mary’s, Eltham and was appointed as co-headteacher after a year.

I am passionate about providing a high quality education that is underpinned by Gospel Values. I believe that through high expectations, compassion and a willingness to collaborate, great things can be achieved for the benefit of the children in our schools.

Outside of my working life, I enjoy playing and watching sport; and music – both are imperative to children’s education.

Rebecca England - Headteacher of St Joseph's Catholic Primary

Rebecca England (Headteacher)Having been fully educated in the Catholic Education system and completing Teacher Training at St Mary’s University back in 2000, I am very proud to be the Acting Headteacher at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Bromley. It is my privilege to nurture and support our children and families as together we learn and grow through the love of Jesus.

I passionately believe that every child should reach their full potential sharing their gifts; working together in harmony as part of a unique community that has Christ at the centre of everything we do.

As an English specialist I have been driven to create an environment where reading for pleasure is at the heart of the curriculum knowing the benefits that are created when that we feel more connected to the wider community, when we increase our understanding of our own identity which leads to empathy and gives as an insight into the wider world and the view of others.

Stuart Sharp - Headteacher of St Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive

Stuart Sharp HeadteacherI was appointed Headteacher of St Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive in February 2021. However, I have been a part of the STM community since 2006 following my appointment to help lead the Science department; I then progressed to becoming a member of the Senior Leadership Team in 2007.

As Headteacher, I am committed to ensuring that young people at St Thomas More become resilient, ambitious, confident citizens of the world who base their lives on the Gospel values.

I try to engage in as many extra-curricular enrichment opportunities as possible and am proud that St Thomas More is renowned for offering such a wide range of activities and trips to our young people. I firmly believe that, to experience is to grow.

Outside of school, I am a father of four boys, and we fully participate in the life of our local parish. I have a deep passion for promoting a healthy lifestyle.  I hope this is demonstrated in my sporting hobbies.  I play football regularly and am a keen skier. In fact, I enjoy sports of all kinds.
